Hi, I’m Sena Melillo

I have 30 years of experience working with children and young people, and I specialise in working with children I meet to improve their lives and self esteem through quality interactions and knowledge about themselves.

My most recent work has been with children and young adults that have a range of complex medical, behavioural, and emotional needs.

I have worked in

  • areas of great deprivation, and affluence
  • public and private schools
  • nurseries
  • outreach/youth work
  • art projects for councils
  • creation and management of child care-related business
  • voluntary work for charities and community-interest companies

In 2008, I attended a talk by Arun Gandhi, where he discussed the legacy of his grandfather, Mahatma Gandhi. Arun spoke about Ahimsa and how the teachings are just as relevant today. Professionally, I felt this is what is missing from our education system.

In 2013, I met Ramana Ennis-Cole, who was in the process of creating the Ramana Devi Ahimsa Natural Ecology Educational Programme for Children. Since then, Ramana has supported my learning of Ramana Devi Ahimsa.

In 2019, I was the lead practitioner in a 10-week pilot project in a UK school.
